Exercises You Can Use to Discover How to Advance Your Short Term Memory

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

You know that you should exercise to keep your body fit, but did you know that you should also do some exercises for your brain to keep your brain in shape? Your brain is like a muscle and it must be worked out every so often so that you can stay as bright as possible. One of the ways you can work your brain is to do some exercises for short-term memory. Short-term memory is what we use to embrace information for just a short time. Some examples of information we use short-term memory for include phone numbers, addresses, names of people we just meet once, and so on. Short-term memory is so called because once we have it we lose it. This keeps our minds open to absorb more information so that it’s not all jumbled with useless nonsense. By doing exercises for short-term memory, however, we can increase the amount of information we can hold in our short-term memories and we can even increase the time in which it remains there.

The Peek A Boo Picture Game

A great way to train for short-term memory is a game where you look a picture. This can be whichever picture you choose. It can be one you select from a magazine, it can be one of you and your family at your family reunion, it can be anything at all. Look at the picture for a few moments and then cover it up. Using a pen and paper, try to write down every detail you can about that picture. Then, look at the picture again. Did you get everything right? Did you get some details wrong? By doing this over and over, you will work your short-term memory and this will increase your capacity for holding information. This is a fun exercise for short-term memory and it’s one the entire family can play. Yes it is even great for improving children’s short term memory.

Audio Exercises

Just like the picture game, you can use audio clips to help exercise your short-term memory. You can use anything at all. You can use a top ten countdown on the radio, you can use talk radio, anything at all. However, make sure you can rewind whatever you’re using so that you can go back and check your work. Try to remember all the details you can by writing them down after the clip is over. Then, rewind and see how many details you got remembered correctly. By practicing over and over, you will increase your short-term memory power and this will increase your ability to remember things you hear.

These are just a few of examples of how to improve your memory anywhere, anytime and the more you practice, the better your short-term memory will be. That’s great news for anyone who hears something and it goes in one ear and out the other. By doing exercises for short-term memory, hopefully you’ll be able to keep ahold of that information a little longer.

How to get rid of spots easily

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

You know how it goes, often I suitably forget about my spots during the course of my day. It just keeps me on an even keel, helps me get on with life. It’s definitely a case of the ends justifying the means.

Then out of nowhere something will happen which brings me straight back to reality. Something as simple as a throwaway comment from someone, usually with no motive whatsoever apart from the fact that I have bad spots. I won’t repeat the offences here but let’s just say they’re nasty. I’m only human and y’know sometimes my guard is down and I let these remarks get under my skin.

I’ll retreat into my shell for a couple of days. Bury my head in the sand. I’ll be blaming myself for being deformed. “Snap out of it” my friends will say. They don’t have to worry, they have good skin. They don’t realise how debilitating it is for me to absorb those hideous comments and jibes.

That’s one of the aspects of this upsetting affliction which drove me up the wall so much that I had to do something. I was literally close to going out of my mind! So … I just got this thing on how to get rid of spots naturally and y’know what? …. I think it’s WORKING!

Home Information Packs

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

HIPS are now 1 year old and news headlines continue to be made from the debate on Home Information Packs (HIPS). Recently, significant reports of non-compliance of the legislation have come to light and been acknowledged by leading figures involved within the industry.

It was widely reported by many news agencies including the BBC that some agents, I must stress only ’some’ agents; are flouting the law and are proceeding to market properties without the legally required Home information Packs.

By law the Home Information Packs must be commisioned prior to the marketing of the property. This should be done by the individual home seller or the estate agent acting on behalf of the home seller. At present the HIP pack needs to have been ordered, with this confirmed  marketing can commence whilst the HIP is compiled. This exception is under review and will probably be removed in December meaning that the Home Information Pack would need to be in place as per the Home Information Pack regulations before marketing would legally be allowed to start.

HIPS are developing, progressing and providing benefits to the house buying and selling process. Just this week it has been announced that a Property Information Questionaire (P.I.Q.) will be included in the future which will add further benefit to the packs current usefulness.

The Home Information Pack continues to have it’s critics and those resistant to allowing the HIP achieving the improvements it was designed to make. There are rogue elements within most industries and these reports do nothing to help improve the reputations of ‘estate agents’ in general. It is hard not to see this as a shame particularly for those that HIP-Consultant.co.uk work with, whom take meeting their legal obligations seriously.

A secret to great writing people forget to apply to the SAT Essay

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

There is a secret to great writing, even though it’s not really a secret since so many people talk about it. It’s the kind of secret that sits right under your nose so you “accidentally” miss it. (Or not accidentally) because you don’t like what it requires of you.So what is this secret that’s not a secret?–write every day.

Or you can say it this way: Practice makes progress (since nothing is ever perfect). When I ask students (not mine) how many practice SAT Essays they’ve written the numbers they quote…4,5,6… can all fit on one or two hands. When I ask “How many will you write before the test?” They usually double or triple that number.

Awful. Why? Because with so little practice how can they ever hope to master a new set of skills? With so little practice they’re unlikely to improve much if at all. Now I know what you’re thinking–how can I set aside 25 minutes a day to write? I’ve got so many other parts of the test to prepare for?

Well, in my Summer classed I had students practice an hour a day and most could write stunning essays after just the first 3 weeks. By the end of 8 weeks almost the whole class could write high-scoring essays consistently. And so can you. But you won’t have to practice an hour a day.

I’ve since then come up with faster methods of teaching and you can do 10 minute exercises to learn the basics of my method. You can think of them like batting practice–you to get to perfect your swing over and over again without playing a full 9 inning game–ans as a result dramatically raise your batting average quickly.

Would you like to raise your SAT Essay score while practicing only minutes a day? Would you like to make the smallest investment in your college education that will pay you the highest dividends?

Yes. If so follow this link:SAT Essay. And reserve your copy of SAT Essay Success today.

Badminton Racket Construction

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

There is much debate on whether strings should be low or high tension. Professional players tend to use higher tension than recreational players. It’s the general consensus that it should be left to individual choice, influenced by the skill and power of the player. It has been noted that playing with high tension strings can lead to injury.

The choice of grip for a racket is important too as the player needs to feel comfortable on the court. Again, there are a wide variety of materials on offer but the most popular is the polyurethane synthetic grips or the toweling ones. Perspiration on the hands can be a problem and many players wear sweatbands or apply a drying agent, either to the grip of the badminton racket or directly to the hand.

The development of equipment has a big influence on how a sport is played and this is in evidence with the badminton racket. The modern makes are so light that they enable players to employ a short hitting action on appropriate strokes. There is a lot of talk about fast serves in tennis but a shuttlecock will fly faster than a tennis ball and this is helped by light shuttlecocks and rackets. The official world record for a smash in badminton was recorded in 2005 when a player sent the shuttlecock at 206mph (332 km/h). There may even be a new wonder material waiting to be invented for the badminton racket that will make the game even faster at a future date.

Baby Crib Bedding Completes Your Nursery

Friday, August 29th, 2008

Creating the perfect nursery is the goal of every first time parent. Bringing the new little one home to anything less than the perfect nursery simply won’t do! It really is not that difficult to create the nursery that is just perfect with a little thought and planning. It also doesn’t have to break the bank account to create a nursery that is comfortable for the baby and the parents too. When creating perfect nurseries, professionals begin with the floor plan.

That’s where you should begin as well. By drawing out the floor plan and where the windows, door, closets and architectural features of the room are located, you can try different arrangements of nursery furniture until you find the perfect place for everything you want in the perfect baby nursery. You’ll need a crib, changing table, a comfortable rocking chair for mom and dad, shelves for toys, and storage for baby’s clothes. If you have family heirlooms you want to use, carefully inspect each piece to ensure that the paint does not contain lead and that the furniture is in good, safe condition. Refinish or repaint items that you do not know whether the paint could contain lead since this is a major health hazard. The next step is to child-proof the nursery.

No nursery is perfect for a child until it has been made child-safe; for that matter, the same is true for any room in your home. Purchase child safety plugs for open electric outlets.Be sure any windows that extend to near floor level have guards so the child can not fall out. Be sure the walls, doors and window sill are painted with products that do not include lead. Ensure no wiring is exposed, including the electric cords for lamps, baby monitors and other nursery accessories. You may want to consider having the overhead lighting changed to include a dimmer switch capability. Now the fun part begins! Choose the perfect infant bedding for your baby’s nursery. You’ll want to select quality products that will last through many washings and will maintain their bright colors and patterns.

You can spend a little or a lot creating the nursery that is perfect. It is important to look for quality baby bedding and crib bedding sets when shopping for your baby’s nursery items.Choose products that are made from natural fibers or natural and synthetic blends which are machine washable. Select products that have seams securely sown to avoid having little fingers and toes catch in loose threads. Choose fabrics which feel good to the touch. Babies have such tender skin that you’ll want only the softest bedding next to your little one’s skin.

4 Simple Steps To Getting Rid Of Credit Card Debt

Friday, August 29th, 2008

There are lots of different methods available for getting out of credit card debt.  One of the most important things to remember is that, sooner or later, bills have to be paid.  That means that ignoring your debt will not make it go away; it will only make matters worse.

Yes, if your car breaks down, you need to get it fixed. Credit is a fantastic way to purchase needed things that you simply can’t find the money for if used correctly. However, it can often be difficult to pay that credit off, so this article will explain some ways in which you can help reduce or eliminate credit card debt.

Easy Things on the List

Credit card debt often accumulates without the person’s realizing how much money they owe exactly. This misfortune can occur for a variety of reasons, making reducing credit card debt difficult at best, impossible at worst. For example, somebody might make a lot of small purchases such as charging lunch out at a fast food restaurant, seeing a movie, and filling up the gas tank. While none of these purchases are large, small things do eventually add up.

It is vital that you keep a record of the money that you spend.  This is easier to do when you use cash or a debit card, and they don’t come along with monthly interest charges, preventing the accumulation of debt.

Depending on interest rates with your credit card, interest payments can easily add 200% onto the cost of whatever you buy. A $3,000 big screen television could easily become as expensive as $10,000 over time.

Firstly, you’ll want to minimize interest by switching to low interest credit cards. To fully eliminate credit card debt though, you’ll need to start paying that debt off. The suggestions given previously were to help prevent further debt, and the following suggestions will help you eliminate what credit card debt you have right now. Simply put, pay more than the minimum monthly payments.

Doing so will drastically reduce interest down the road, saving you as much as 50% or more of what you’d have to pay by making minimum payments. Secondly, place focus on specific areas of debt. Many people own multiple credit cards, and they find it helpful to pay off the card with the least amount owed. This frees up money to use towards paying off the other credit cards. There are several other options you could look at, but these suggestions will help you eliminate credit card debt.

Diamond Cut

The cut, refers to the style and quality of how the diamond was cut. Most traditional diamond stud earrings use either princess or round cut diamonds.
